Scaffolding

When we refer to scaffolding, we mean the temporary structures designed to support buildings and people during the repair and construction purposes.
In teaching, scaffolding is often used construct to describe the ongoing support provide to a learner by an expert. It is a concept based on the theory proposed by Lev Vygotsky, known as Zone of Proximal Development. In this mode of instruction, a teacher helps the students initially to learn new concept and others a maximum assistance. Gradually the teacher sets up a newer task for the students to perform and apply their knowledge independently.
The zone of proximal development is the distance between the children can do on their own and what they can do when they are assisted by adult.

Scaffolding is a strategy in which a knowledgeable person equips the students and provides him with all the information and support to acquire or learn a particular thing. This strategy helps the students learn from their mistakes and clears about the doubts certain concepts and mastering skills.

Scaffolding  is a big help most especially on  learning in terms that it minimizes the frustration level and also it motivates the learner.
A student is less likely to be frustrated in a scaffolded activity for some reasons. The main is that help is readily available. Not only can a teacher provide individualized or differentiated instruction, but they can also allow peers to help the child learn. There is less frustration and pressure for a learner when he is working with people on similar ability levels. Further, a teacher ask the student the student what she has achieve; in this way the student sees her skills and feels more confident. Then the teacher can also help remove any obstacles.
Students are not passive learners with scaffolding, instead, students use their past knowledge and actively create new knowledge. They can go on to share their knowledge with others. In this way child can become motivated to learn because of the confidence he finds in his abilities and the joy he derives from helping her peers.
